In its Global Classroom two part lecture series Turkish Culture and Society in March and April this year, the World Affairs Council of Seattle listed Expat Harem in its selected Turkish literature resources for teachers. The event was part of a professional development training to inform educators about world regions, cultures, and issues; provide access to people from the regions being discussed; and disseminate up-to-date curriculum that supports bringing these ideas into the classroom.
We were honored to share this list with Turkey's famed poet Nazim Hikmet, celebrated novelist Elif Shafak, award-winning author Louis de Bernieres and Nobel Laureate Orhan Pamuk. We look forward to Expat Harem becoming part of (even more) school curricula.
The non-profit, non-partisan World Affairs Council is the leading foreign affairs forum in the Pacific Northwest.
